FCV United to host 3v3 Soccer Festival at the Evergreen Sportsplex on Sunday November 8th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event will cater specifically to more competitive U7 and U8 Recreational and All-star Players giving them an incredible opportunity to play against other Academy/Crossover players throughout Northern Virginia.  
 
The 3v3 games give every player more touches on the ball and improves their ability in small-sided environments.  This style of play is also developmentally beneficial for young players to encourage individual 1v1 skills and quality interplay in an open, unstructured format. The event will help to prepare players for the All-Star Weekends that a bunch of teams play in later in November.  

 
About:

·         Teams of 5 players for 3v3 match play with free substitution during matches

·         Matches are of 12 minute duration with no halftime or kick-off after goals

·         Horn sounds when games start and finish, allowing 3 minutes for movement between fields (teams move direction shown above in RED arrows)

·         No referees, only field marshals and no scores are kept.

·         6 teams in each “pod” grouped on fields 1, 2 & 3 or 4, 5, & 6 or 7, 8 & 9

·         Round 1 has 4 x 12 minute matches for each of the first 3 "pods"

·         Second group of “pods” will begin play immediately on the hour for their 1st Round of matches (if sufficient festival registration)

·         Each team will play 2 rounds of matches, equaling 8 x 12 minute games

As you can see, this is going to be a VERY Free Play environment.  Festivals at this age really help promote flair, creativity, experimentation and learning through trial and error.  This philosophy is to allow for each team and player to get the most out of every game, without the stress or pressure of winning or losing.  The goal is also to minimize stoppages in order to keep the game moving. And most importantly, this will create an environment that is fun for all.  

Evergreen Sportsplex is located just south of Leesburg, VA and has the most state-of-the-art turf fields. Parking is free and ResQ Grille is now fully operational and serving the best BBQ you've ever had!
